The Alluring Ways of Mario Kart Wii

While I’ve enjoyed many video games through the course of my life, perhaps my favorite has been the new Mario Kart game for the Nintendo Wii. I can’t seem to put this game down and it’s been a year since I bought it.

If I told you that just about anyone could play this game and pick it up quickly, I wouldn’t be lying. I have a five year old cousin who was able to win a race in the novice mode her first time trying.

Mario Kart Wii is a truly special game. It takes a classic format that achieved great success on the N64 and the Super Nintendo, and transposes it to the Wii, taking full advantage of the motion sensing controls.

The best part about this game is the Wii wheel. It’s a wireless add-on that allows you to use your regular Wii remote to guide the car, just as you would with a typical steering wheel. You wouldn’t believe how well it works.

As far as the levels on the game, they’re all very challenging and a lot of fun. One of the best things to take advantage of in Mario Kart Wii is the online mode, which happens to be my personal favorite way to play the game.

In online mode, you’re able to join races of anywhere from 2 to 11 cars. The best part about it is that it’s all live, and your opponents are other owners of the game. It’s a really enjoyable challenge, and I’m seriously addicted to it. There’s also a point structure that rewards you when you win.

This quickly lets you see how you stack up compared to the many other drivers playing this game. It becomes a constant challenge to see how high you can get your ranking.

If you own a Wii, I’d seriously recommend checking this game out. I haven’t really put it down since I bought it.
