Searching for Motorcycle Insurance Quotes Online

Securing the right type of motorcycle insurance as well as the correct amount does not have to be complicated. Just like auto insurance, there are three basic types of coverage when deciding to get a quote. The three are liability, collision and comprehensive. Not only does insuring your motorcycle protect it against damage, it can prevent you from experiencing punitive monetary difficulties if someone else is involved in an accident.

While many people rarely use a motorcycle for their only means of transportation, there is the option of calling the current auto insurance provider and simply adding the motorcycle to an existing policy. However, if motorcycle insurance is not provided by your current insurer, then a second policy will be needed. If it is, then many providers will offer a discount for multiple vehicles on the same policy and this will help save money.

Just because you have your car insurance with one company does not mean that taking a look at other providers is necessarily a bad idea. Checking out the options and plans offered by other companies may turn out to save more money than just adding on to an existing policy. Motorcycle insurance should be chosen for its coverage and not just for its price.

Replacement cost of the motorcycle itself is one major factor when choosing the right coverage. This is particularly true if the motorcycle in an antique or classic. While the premiums for these motorcycles may be higher than the average bike, it is well worth it if the need arises to replace one.

Getting the right quote means asking different companies what they offer and finding out what’s covered. The research can be done either online or by phone but the internet will generally prove to give faster and cheaper results. Several online insurance companies offer free quotes and will provide a list of options specifically for motorcycles, so the type of quote you receive can be pretty comprehensive.

Take the time to figure out exactly what type of coverage is needed for your particular motorcycle and keep in mind the state required minimums as well. A low price may be attractive, but this should not be the deciding factor. The proper coverage at an affordable rate should be the ultimate goal in the search for insurance.

While many providers offer discounted rates on certain policies, there is another way to get even lower cost motorcycle insurance without sacrificing coverage. By taking a motorcycle safety course and passing it, a discount will be applied to the policy by most providers. This takes very little time and will help lower the monthly premium cost. This can be quite beneficial to both the rider and the insurance company.

It never hurts to ask and generally the agent may not think to inquire about any special circumstances that could qualify you for a discount. All in all, getting the right quote for motorcycle insurance does not have to be a hassle. It may not be as much fun as riding the open highway, but it will save the day if you get the perfect coverage at an affordable price.

Caravan Insurance

Getting your caravan is insured is a vital step to take in order to protect you from any costs that may be incurred by accidental damage to your caravan, or by damage from theft or bad weather.

For most caravan insurance policies, you would have cover for normal damage caused to your caravan due to fire, bad weather, flood, accidental or malicious damage and theft.

Your removable possessions stored in the caravan will also be covered up to a limit defined in your policy (typically 300).

The possession cover will not cover small valuables such as jewellery, money and credit cards; these should be covered under all the risks section of your household contents insurance policy. The caravan contents insurance is intended for possessions that you cannot be expected to take with you such as furniture, curtains cutlery etc.

You have a duty of care to look after your property, so theft from your caravan will only be covered if it is properly locked up whilst you are away from it. So there will not be any cover if you leave it open, or you leave your belongings under an awning or in a toilet tent.

By the same token, if you do not fit your caravan with a wheel clamp and hitch lock and it gets stolen, you will not be covered.

Check for restrictions due to the security on the caravan site. There may be different requirements for security, for instance an insurer might insist that a static caravan may only be stored on a registered holiday park (i.e. HPA or British Holiday Home Parks Association graded sites). In addition the insurer may insist that the caravan site is protected by hedging or fencing at its periphery.

If you wish to have you awnings covered for damage, then that is usually possible at a small extra fee, but usually depends on how old the awnings are. Typically, if your awnings are more than seven years old then insurance companies will not cover them.

This is just an introduction to caravan insurance and is not intended to be representative of the covers or restrictions offered by any particular insurance or that all insurance provide the protection described.
