7 Passenger Cars For The Household
You just can not find a old station wagon any more. Sure, companies like Volvo or Toyota have these vehicles that look like a wagon from the old days, but they are not really the same. Those things were useful. Especially that 3rd row way in the back of the cars.
With Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV’s) and Minivan’s hitting the scene, the Station Wagon went away quick. The newer vehicles were just bigger, more useful, and , well, cooler looking. (That last one is up for debate) Even the the innovative tailgate went away until Honda brought it back on their Ridgeline truck. (Swings out and folds down)
You could really see it coming. The Minivans are just way bigger and give you cargo and passenger space second to none. Regardless of the stigma attached, they are one of the most useful vehicles you can buy. The SUV on the other hand is bigger, but, let’s face it, just looks cooler that a wagon. It also makes people feel safer because of their size and ground clearance.
Need to seat 7? Here a a few good ones:
The emergence of the SUV — It was awesome. You could have this huge vehicle and think you own the road. Gas was, what, .9 cents for crying out load? Well, things have changed, but people really do still need the room, so an SUV is a practical form of transportation.
Traverse: Chevy — Nice little 7 seater. Smaller than the Pilot, but gets pretty good gas mileage for that type of vehicle.
Honda Pilot — The Pilot cam out in 2003 (to replace the Passport) and was always rated high from the start. The newest version came out in 2009 and did not disappoint. They come in 2WD or 4WD and have a Variable Cylinder Management system for better gas mileage.
Highlander by Toyota — The Highlander seats 7 and comes with a 4 and 6 cylinder option. You can also get yourself a hybrid version of the Highlander, but with a cost. It will get you 5-6 miles per gallon than a non-hybrid version, but will set you back about $7000 more.
The Emergence of the Minivan — It was a interesting concept that caught on and has never went away. In fact, the Minivan is one of the most useful vehicles you can own. The combination of space and convenience is like no other.
2010 Honda Odyssey — With 8 passenger seating and a V-6 engine with 250hp, the Odyssey is usually regarded as one of the top 3 Minivans that you can buy.
Chrysler Town and Country — Always rated in the Top 3 of Minivans, the Town and Country combines style with convenience. It signature feature is that all the seats, including the 2nd row, fold flat into the floor without you having to pull them out of the car.
2010 Toyota Sienna — Look for this model to be redesigned for 2011. It currently offers 4WD, but is not quite as finished off as the Odyssey or Town and Country. Just my opinion.
Although everybody seems to looking for fuel efficiency these days, people do need the space for 7 or 8 passengers. The vehicles above are definitely some of the best and should help get you started in your search.
Check out the cars/trucks above. It will be a good start for you.
